Holiday Concert

All Performances for the 2011 Holiday Concert are presently Sold Out!

The Holiday Concert features two to four performances in one weekend in December at the Dancing Arts Studio studio. This year's program features Highlights from The Nutcracker staged byDAC's Wayne Sewarte. Past performances have included selections from The Nutcracker, Cinderella, Little Match Girl or other ballets. There may be separate casts for each performance, with some dancers in the same or an alternate role in different casts. A parent informational meeting is held in September for advanced beginners and above, and in October for Pre-Beginners and Beginners. Auditions for the Holiday Concert are held in September. All advanced beginner level students and above are eligible to audition. Beginner and pre-beginner level students may also be cast without audition, at the invitation of the choreographer and director in October. All dancers that audition must be willing to accept the role and cast that they are given without questioning, bragging, or gossiping. Failure to accept a particular role or cast with grace will result in not being eligible to audition for future roles for one year.

The rehearsal schedule is quite rigorous, especially in the few weeks immediately preceding the concert.  Generally, each Gift role rehearses at least once per week (usually Saturday afternoons), jazz and modern pieces rehearse at least once per week each, plus full-cast rehearsals, technical, blocking, and dress rehearsals are held the week before or the week of the concert.  Rehearsals are not planned for Sunday, although dancers must be flexible for last-minute additions or changes to the rehearsal schedule.  The photo shoot is usually scheduled on a Sunday. There are no excused absences from rehearsals or performances with the exception of short-term illness or extraordinary situations.  Advance notification must be given of inability to attend a rehearsal before noon on the day of the rehearsal. Inability to meet the rehearsal schedule is cause for dismissal from the production.

The dates for this years performance are December 17th @ 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM and December 18th @ 2:00 PM
