Stage Make Up Kits
The following make up supplies are generally required for performances
(other specific requests may be made by individual choreographers):

These items are contained in make up kits available at DAC for $24.00
- grease foundation / base (color is determined by the performers complexion. Fairer complexions wear slightly darker base/ darker complexions wear slightly lighter base.
- sponge wedges
- translucent powder
- grease blush / rouge (1-2 shades lighter than lips)
- eye brow pencil (brown for blondes, brown/black for brunettes, black for black hair)
- lip liner (girls: rose pink, boys: red & brown)
- grease eye shadow (from DAC for $6 if available)
- make up kit / box
- mirror
- make-up remover
- facial wipes
- spot treatment for when make up gets on costume
- band aids
- facial tissues
- scotch tape for removing lint
- lipstick (rose color for females, red and brown mix for men, orange and pink mix for boys)
- mascara (brown / black)

- Start with a clean dry face, neck and hands
- Spread contents of make up kit onto a hand towel
- Load make up sponge with foundation and press on face in three horizontal lines and one vertical line.
- The vertical line starts at the bridge of the nose and travels down to the middle of the neck and up to the center of the forehead.
- The first horizontal line begins at the moustache line and travels right and left to the cheek bones
- The second horizontal line travels parallel and above the eyebrows
- The third horizontal line travels above and along the right and left jaw bones.
- Each time you need more foundation, use a new sponge to avoid mixing skin cells and bacteria into your make up.
- Do not spread foundation.
- Instead, pres it into the skin from the center of the face to the collar bones and hair line.
- Do not spread foundation.
- Set foundation with translucent powder
- Contour eyelids with brown in crease and white or light pink on lids and under brows.
- Place a dot of white on the outside corners of each eye
- Line lips with brown pencil and fill lips with rose
- Dip toothpick into blush and dot cheek bones with four dots of blush and blend from apple of cheek to center of ear.
- Contour cheeks with brown under and white above the blush and blend.
- Add a touch of blush to upper corners of forehead tip of nose and center of chin.
- Use brown pencil to trace eye brow hairs in short upward strokes
- If false eyelashes are to be worn, adhere them before eyeliner is applied.
- Use liquid eyeliner to line eyes: top lid from inside corner to pupil then upward toward the corner of the brow
- (for teen / adult dancers only, line lower lid: from the center of the pupil and below the eyelashes draw a very thin parallel line with the upper line).
- For teen adult dancers only, jaw bone can be blushed and contoured like the cheek bone.
- Be sure to remove nail polish and jewelry that is not part of the costume.
- Wipe down all make up with alcohol and return to make up kit for future use.
- Clean hands with a disposable wipe before touching costume or dancing.

Make up for female Dancers: |
| Standard stage make up includes: base to match role (see choreographer), eyebrow pencil, rose pink lips, cheek rouge. If over the age of 12 add eyeliner and eye shadow. If en pointe, add false eyelashes. |
Make up for male Dancers: |
| Standard make up but, base should be slightly darker than complexion, eyebrow pencil to match hair color (blondes wear brown), cheek rouge, brownish-red lips or light orange pink lips and eyeliner (for age 15 +) |
